The CSS default AK is all triangulated because compiling it breaks quads and ngons down into tris. All source models when decompiled are made only of tris, and I'm sure you could convert the mesh back into quads. Modeling in quads makes meshes easier to organize and edit so it's good practice.
For FPS games, I'd say consult with the lead programmer, or project director and see if you can weasel out a tri limit to go from. Either way model what textures can't do and shapes that affect the outline then optimize as much as possible if you have the time. |
