id say simply googleling sum nude photos and start drawing, also lookup sum human muscle anatomy pics, and if you really wanna dive in..get yurself a nice anatomy book, but studying the muscle groups, and general shapes and proportion is all you need to start..it takes time of course, best of luck

I thought this might help. Im in my last week of ART130 at The University of Advancing Technology but Im in for Game Art and Animation. I never drew anything before until just about 5 weeks ago. The books we used for class were.
"How to draw what you see" Rudy De Reyna
"Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" Betty Edwards

You can check out my pictures at Friendster - Pat

I found this cool website in magazine American Artist Fall 2006.
Drawing faces and portraits. Portrait drawing lessons from a Master Artist for beginner to advanced artists.

A teacher from uni recommended this book, it can make wonders:
Amazon.com: The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: Books: Betty Edwards

examples:
Learn to Draw: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

I'm at tees uni, and since I don't have any of that silly English schooling, so they wanted me to hand in an art portfolio. I'm not really bad at drawing, but the stuff I handed in for the portfolio wasn't too awesome. some figure drawings (just draw your parents watching tv if you have to), some general stuff (sit in the park and draw stuff) and some things you came up with yourself will most likely do the trick. got me in at least.

if you want to do it right, check the local college/uni/whatever and see if they got some life drawing classes going. you can usually get in for a small fee and it's really worth the money. should have done it a long time ago. besides that, I agree with most of the others. talon had some good points, especially when it comes to that notebooks on the sub/bus/park bench.

I've got that drawing on the right side of the brain book and I highly recommend it! I've not read enough of it to improve my ability yet but it is definitely a great book.

I'm also just about to start drawing classes which I truly hope will help me.

Goodluck to you!
