Website navigation

First, I need to point out that I love the website. Great community and wealth of information to sit and read for hours. More than anything, I lurk the forums and just check out WIPs and stuff like that. However, I feel a bit compelled (being a graphic designer) to point out that the website is a bit confusing on the navigation side. I just now figured out, after being a member for a couple months, that the navigation is right under the logo.

This whole time, I thought that I can't log in or go straight to the forums from the front page. I ended up having to click on the recent activity posts, then using the sub-navigation to get to the forums. I apologize if this is redundant and has been posted before, but I just wanted to share my opinion about the navigation being made a bit more clear.

I believe he's referring to the navigation under the logo on the front page to get to the forums.

Which takes you to the same URL :P

I bookmark the forum, not the frontpage. I get updates on my RSS and through email, so I don't tend to use the front page aggregator.

No, he has a point. The front page is powered by the forums, yet there's no login box on the front page. I only noticed this the other day when signing on from another PC, meant to mention it.

Like most, I've bookmarked the forums and not the front-page so it doesn't matter too much. But it's still an odd set-up for those who haven't.

The header in general is a bit large (especially with the ad), but I was trying to communicate that the "FORUM" and "ARTICLE" buttons look like they're there to compliment the logo. They just don't LOOK interactive

Personally I've never had a problem, that being said I tend to use the frontpage instead of browsing the forum as the latest topics dont seem to change too often.
