Trying to trace the border of a playing card.
Ten or so years ago I took a junior college introduction class to Illustrator and Photoshop but haven't used it since. I own a Wacom Sapphire(CTE-430) which uses the Graphire 3 drivers and Paint Shop Pro 9. I'm trying to create playing cards for my first game I want to release on the iOS platform. I was told by another developer I would need to create artwork for three different resolutions so it would look good on all the iOS devices. I figured I'd start first with the largest resolution, creating artwork for the retina display of the iPad 3, 4 which is 2048x1536 at 264 ppi.
In PSP9 I open a new image document with 2048x2048 pixels and 264 ppi. I then maximize the document window which centers the image area inside PSP9. I have a playing card laid horizontally setup inside the top cover of my sapphire and try to trace the border using the sapphire pen and the rectangle draw tool in PSP9. Here are the issues I'm running into: i) The playing card is longer than the 2048x2048, 264 resolution of the image document ii) The sapphire drawing area is automatically set to my display resolution, so tracing the playing card would actually end up with the cursor overlapping PSP9 tool bars, frames, etc. Is there a way to set the drawing area of the sapphire to the boundaries of the image document area? If I ever get the playing card traced and figure out it's dimensions, should I create a new image document set to the playing card dimensions for further process in creating the playing cards? Thanks! |

I got a response from Wacom in the Wacom forums to my issues. I now know when I installed the latest driver that it also installed a Bamboo Preferences application. I used the application to set a portion of my display to match the full portion of the Sapphire tablet. Now I only need to work on a larger image size to fit the playing card tracing inside.
