I've been looking around for a graphic adventure game scripting utility for a while for a personal project (Personal project - euphemism for "it's unlikely ever to happen")

The Wintermute engine struck me as particularly capable, make sure to check out the game "Project Joe" - exceptionally LucasArts like!

Forgot to mention this engine, looks very promising, I was going to get my hands on it but, money constraints..

There's a tech demo game running on it here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ARH-n-hZR60

Link to engine site:

Enjoy

On a first look, it looks promising. Though after taking a second look most of the preview consists of a single static scene. So its hard to tell if all those shadows are actually realtime and not a simple baked lightmap. No physics or animations are active. Also, you can see lightglows through occluding geometry(the closed door). This makes it kinda hard to estimate the power of the overall system. It doesnt get better in the end since you only see the animated characters in small, isolated areas with their realtime shadowing. Looking at their featurelist it seems like they have tailored a lot of middleware libraries together to build a game-engine. Again, this all makes it hard to estimate if the price for the package is a hit, given the fact that you can obtain the same rendering capabilities by downloading Ogre3D for free.

But definately promising for the future.

I like the unreal engine. I know it pretty well, and it's easy for me to get meshes in to it from maya. I'm waiting on the new unreal engine to hit the shelves, it's looking like end of september though.

i'll not post any links as there are many very well known sited out there devoted to it, and they aren't hard to find.

Torque. i really dislike torque. i haven't used the new TEGA yet, too much other stuff to do. My team and I had more trouble with it than it was worth, goes to show you get what you pay for. 8)

I forgot to add that i like Irrlicht. It's like the little engine that could. usefull, pretty, and open source, what more could you ask for? http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/
