When we ran a poll about what you wanted us to run a workshop in on the CGSociety Facebook site early this year, there was a huge amount of interest in a course that looked at the integration of Maya and Unity. So we asked University of Utah animation professor
Anthony Romrell to run one for us.
In this eight-week, fully mentored
workshop , you will create a character in Maya (or import one, if you have a low-res one you'd like to use.) Anthony will then help you create textures and UV maps that can be read by other artists, as well as different types of shading with normal and displacement maps. We'll construct sets and prop models that can be used in-game, rigging, and animation principles such as contacts, passes, and breakdowns, anticipation action and reaction. Finally, you'll bring everything together in Unity - animated character, set and props - as well as developing and refining scripts for gameplay to create your own small world. Starts October 31 -
