Plant textures

I usually use cgtextures.com for all my textures but they don't have a whole lot of nice leaves/plants that you see in AAA games. Any good free sites for vegetation?

I would use it as an excuse to go out and take photos of the stuff you want. In terms of the workflow, It's just a case of doing grunt-work and cutting out the background information and smoothing the alpha off for the texture.

If your looking at buying texture sets of plants and what not I'm sure turbosquid and other websites would be able to accomidate, but for the most part have a go at making some of your own. Workflows range from cutting textures to designing a leaf (single leaf) in Zbrush / Maya and duplicating it onto a branch for your diffuse.

Lots of options there, just give em a try and see how it goes, dont rely on CGTEXTURES for straight up texture rips, mix and match, train the mind! :P

I really like the plants on cgtextures.
When I do vegetation for my shop I either use the latin plant names for research on the web to get high-res photos or take my cam and go out.

If I still have trouble getting source photos (had to do a brazil vegetation set which was hard because the lack of reference images for leaves) I model a high-res version and render the branches to textures to work further.
