Do you mean the model is in the .xsi format, or that it's an XSI (now Softimage) scene file?.
If it's a .xsi file format, that you can download the Crosswalk covertor: Autodesk - Autodesk Softimage Services & Support - Autodesk Crosswalk This will install the .xsi file convertor for Softimage and also Maya/Max/whatever you have. You can then export from XSI/Softimage and then import into Max. If you have an actual XSI/Softimage database and scene file (.scn), then you can use FBX to export data and import to Max.

you could also export as an obj. (but only if it is model and UVs) if its more then not so much.
If none of that works, then im guessing you dont have access to XSI, and you may want o download the XSI/softimage mod tool. although havent tested it but should work. version 6 (i think there is less problems with it) XSI Mod Tool 6.01 download - Mod DB version 7.5 Autodesk - Autodesk Softimage - Download Autodesk Softimage Mod Tool
