College student looking for answers.

Hello everyone.
My name is Matthew.
I am currently going to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division.
I have a couple of questions.

I would really like to meet an industry professional, that has their foot firmly planted within the gaming industry. Being that I'm getting my degree in Game Art & Design, I hope I've come to the right place. Having a friend on the "inside" would help immensely with my schoolwork, when I have questions, as well as networking and helping to get my foot in the door.

Now onto my question.
This is the assignment:
"Based on your major, research and describe, in detail, 3 ways Microsoft Word can benefit your work either as a student, in your future career, or both."

I want to know how you(the industry professional) are benefited by Microsoft Word.

Thank you in advance!
Matthew

Are you asking people to do your homework or what? I think you should answer thing question yourself and THEN ask it if you want to get more.

No, I've come up with 2 of the 3 ways Word can benefit me, but only in school. Being an artist, I'm not sure how it can benefit me in the industry. So I was simply asking if a professional could tell me how Word benefits him/her in the industry. To get an inside view so to speak. I don't need anyone to do my work for me, I'm just trying to see how an industry artist is benefited by Word.

to be honest, thats a pretty vague question they gave you.

Just be smart, like type that the 3rd way MSword benefits whoever, is by being able to write this same rockin' paper your writting to further your studies and future career.

I think the only time I've ever used Word in my entire career is to write documentation in.

yeah i guess a cv/resume will help you get a job, or your invoice if you are self employed other than that i cant think of anything.

Erm, these next ones are just things that it could be used for but word is definatly not the best thing out there...

fixes for people to do - but you can use google spreadsheets for that which updates online straight away.

But, i agree with the others here its a bit vague and not much use at all. So, to be honest word doesnt benefit me at all the company i work for just uses it for invoices!

i dont think word is really a tool used by the artists in the industry, design teams would probally use it more to create a final design doc/bible for thier ideas, but even designers would probally rely more on post-it notes stuck all over the wall or notepads.

I'm going to go ahead and bet that the reason they assigned this to you is because they're looking for creative answers. Not necessarily practical uses of the software in the games industry

That makes sense.
So far I've got.
School Assignments (obviously)
Notes (for student)
and now Invoices (if I am a freelancer)
sound good?

Notepad.

You can use it to hack word and get it to do your assignments for you.
