i've decided that i am going with the 2nd idea "ethical decisions behind the games design process" but i'm also going to add in some stuff about censorship and ratings.
the dissertation is only 6000 words so i'm going to break it down to...
750-1000 words for the intro,
500-750 words for the conclusion
and 3 chapters at 1500ish words each
the chapters will be
chapter 1 "games ratings in uk, usa,australia",
chapter 2 a case study of l4d 2 and how the game was censored in Australia to fit the Australian ratings system
chapter 3 an interview with a games designer (or 2) on how they go about designing games to get a specific rating and times they have had to self censor an idea to keep their game within a certain rating.
how does that sound to you lovely people? you guys are either in the industry or just by being in this forum have an interest in the industry but my tutor for this module is an English literature teacher and freely admits she has no idea about the games industry so will be marking us on how we write our papers and if the finished article makes sense rather than looking at it from an industry point of view.
