My 2 cents: I really like the way it was all working around the end of last year. We had regular small competitions, speed modelling and speed texturing. Around 20-30 people would enter, offer great feedback and CC. With a nice small comp like this, you had a good chance of winning and getting a pat on the back from your peers. More importantly, you learnt things from the doing and the criticism (seriously, I do not care about the prizes...its fame im after!). I liked the format as any given week, I could pick up a comp and run with it or not (yeah, i didn't do heaps of them, but it was great that they were THERE if I wanted to)

As well as this, every now and then a larger competition would be run, which was an awesome complimentary thing.

How I feel about the game-artist community is that the small bite-sized competitions really suit this site atmosphere (with the occassional larger one thrown in for fun). However, I feel that as the competitions get larger and larger, with more focus on the prizes and longer amounts of time needed to spend on the competition, I lose interest. I'd rather be part of a smaller focused comp, than a face lost in the crowd of all the entries, which is how i feel with cgsociety for example.

So what I'd like (and i may be the only one?) is for the game-artist comps to be short and sweet!

Yes sir!

GAMC replaced the Speed Comps we used to have, both of which set up and run by Tiros and Craig Lewis. We felt the community would be up for making full props in a single go (because you'd be able to whack that in your portfolio), instead of just modelling one, or texturing a previously made one (which would look less impressive in a port'), and a bigger "small" competition would better fill the gaps between the main event we were planning :P

The Army of Small comp was actually a main event comp we had, which would have been a precursor to the Scene From A Movie competition that was last held here - All but the Army of Small competition set up and run by me and Doylle. These main comps were planned to be held every 4 months, but we only managed to get one out the door

So will there be a comp the size of SFAM again? Or will the next one be smaller?

The next competition will probably be smaller but we want to do bigger challenges as well so we'll see how things unfold. With some luck we'll have something to announce in the next couple of days.
