I personally like the idea of building up mini projects to something big, kind of like what you have been doing with the recent beach themed ideas. The only problem with this is that all your work will be of the same sort of style!

So maybe, each competition has some sort of link to a game for inspiration, eg a modular fable building or a safe house like in far cry.

I am also a big fan of Phillips texturing tutorials, so maybe something a long those lines, i know ther has been a similar texturing competition before.

Ahhh, i am not really giving much advise here so why not do a telescope! Sci-fi, old, cyperpunk, modern, caveman times, prehistoric. Small or big, i dunno think that woul dget some intresting results but will people be enthusiastic i dunno, so maybe add a gun to it or cannon, thats intresting!

I dunno if we can do this, but it just came to mind when i was walking home from work, but could we get some games companies maybe to give us a brief i dunno? It could be something simple like a prop or something. I think that would have more drive for people to enter! But i know that there are legal issues with this i think?!

Or, maybe one of the mods could do it, if they need something done they could ask you to do it in here that way we get something for our portfolio and they get a contact to work on the mod maybe?

I actually kind of like this idea! I remember the Polycount forums had an entry for making weapons and hats for Team Fortress 2. Something similar would be awesome, even if it would go in a smaller, not-as-famous title.

Here's some suggestions:

Hard surface
- High poly wheels with alloys, bolts, brake calliper, tire treads, tire branding
- Opened treasure chest
- Portable plasma shield device
- Portable hologram unit
- A navigation unit

Organic
- small Cherub statue
- Anything that is classified as a 'helmet'
- A piece of armour

Modular design
- Bridge/walkway, create different varieties

Environment
- Ornate fireplace with wall and floor
- 5 meter square exterior damaged ground revealing gas & water pipes.
- Inspired by Red Dead Redemption's 'X marks the spot' treasure hunt, create the next one by making a convincing memorable terrain/rocks/Veg 'X marks the spot'
- Create a convincing set of broken pot plants with spilled soil, expose roots, living/dead plant and decay.

Great stuff already, guys! We are collecting ideas and will treat this thread as kind of a "well". Don't be discouraged if we don't use your idea right away, as we may use it at a later time. Also,

Feel free to make a post whenever a super-groovy idea pops in your noggin :P

Hmmmm... I love the idea. I'll look into doing something like that. Sounds fun

Just an idea that popped out from my head:
What if someone makes - let's say an empty room (with windows, door(s)), or a garage, or something that lacks of anything and the competition would be to texture up the room and fill it up with props.

Let's say there is an empty room with a counter and a huge window. The rest would be up to the artists. I for example would make a bar in it with lots of booze
But let's say someone would make a small office (or a bureau). Someone else would make a shop. The third person would make a dental surgery. All in the same room. The possibilites are endless

Well here is your Room. It must only be renovate.

It sounds interresting, but its not a Mini competition, at least for me.
