GAMC #3 - Ibrahim

Managed to get some free time to get cracking on the new comp - spent two days so far, creating high res model and low poly model, which comes to around 1700 tris.

Not quite, happy with the bake actually, the rivets in paticular came out quite poor - probably try a different approach to create them.

comments and crits welcome

I like it. the simple shapes work well, has a good solid look. I think the rivets could work, perhaps a few smaller ones along the grooves for extra detail, but its coming along well.

Looks pretty sweet so far. Definitely one of my top 3 choices atm. The only thing I can say is that the dark material is making the baked details fairly difficult to read....but that only affects C n C, and not the final....so no worries really

I like it overall, but the mirrored text looks really off...One Idea would be to use Letters/Numbers only that can be mirrored (0,8,M,H,X,Y) or map that area separately.

Totally agree with Piflik, mirrored text is a big no-no most of the time, and it's very noticeable there.

Texture update - I'm trying to tone down the specular to make it fit with the military theme more, but it's producing a dull quality, and I'm reluctant to add much grunge to it, being a vehicle which would usually avoide combat scenes.

Thoughts?

Military vehicles rarely have alot of grunge.

The "OH ITS METAL I HAS TO GRUNGE IT UP!" mentality is the new lens flare anyway.

I like how clean it is!

I think you have to balance what is interesting to look at with what is realistic. Such is the nature of the beast.
