Detail Maps are independant normal maps that are tiled across a surface to add in finer details like skin pores, or in this case the leather 'grain'.
So if you take away his detail map the leather texture would be diminished. So it is a new map that can be small 32x32, 64x64 for example and just tiled alot. Question for you HP, can detail maps be used for certain mat id's across a single uv layout like this? So you can avoid your buttons getting textured for example. |
