It looks a little long from front to back, but other than that it's a nice start.

Hey JBaird, thanks for the comments. Yes I did realize that, it is an area that will be fixed. I also think the front legs do not need to be that detailed, they are hurting my tris count!

WIP progress

More clean up work on the low poly. Only 1054 tris, so there is room for more subD. On to high poly after that.

WIP - HighPoly

Finally got some more work on the model and here is the high poly version. Again your comments are very welcomed. On to normal map and texturing.

More hard details!

While chairs are soft and comfy, this piece relies on the contrast between the hard lines formed by the pulled fabric and the softness created for comfort.

Don't be afraid to get some micro details in there.

Thanks for you comments Chaosquack, yeah I definitely need more details. I have not used any digital sculpting apps as of yet, so in this case I will have to just keep adding more details on the highpoly mesh. I am having a hard time with the front part of the chair where I am getting those sharp folded areas. I tried chamfering the edges but I am sure there must be a better way to do that.

Kind of a noob question , do you guys create the uv maps from the low poly of the high poly? I know I will be making the normal map from the high poly version, but if I am going to texture this, from which model are the UVs usually made from?

Thanks again!

You only need to UV the low poly model (thank god!), if thats what you mean.

Yes Corey, that's what I meant on my post. I just realized a typo that made the question ambiguous. For sure the low poly will be much easier to be used to lay out the UVs, but I just had a bit of doubt. Thanks!
