GAMC #2 - lordgobbo

I really liked doing the previous one so I decided to give it a try again. I started the low poly today I would say it's almost finished I'm not totally sure of the edge flow for now. I'm at 1988 tri so I might rework it a bit before the texture. I'm gonna work the rest in zbrush.

Hey Gobbo nice start! One thing I'm curious about though is why you've looped the edges at the back of the chair like you did? It would be a lot cleaner if you linked them straight across, and you'd save more tris. I can draw it out if that's too vague an explanation. Just me 2 pennies

Yeah that is what I was talking about when I said I wasn't sure about it. When I did it I thought I was saving some poly back there but I'm not so sure anymore I think I'll try to clean it up and see what end up to be the best.

Hi lordgobbo,
As Philly said the could do with being more evenly spaced and more grid-like.
But you got more done than me atm

I reworked the wireframe to get a cleaner version. I tried something with the edgeloop but in the end I didn't really saved any poly and it was probably not that efficient.

I think now it's cleaner and more effective.

Some update with the textures. For now I'm quite happy with the result I think it might be a little too dark overall. I had trouble getting a decent normal for the front legs and I'm still not happy with it, also I still have to do something with the back leg texture.

It's looking ok so far but I think you need to tone down those very dark lines that go in between the padding.

Yes again I agree with Mist, those dark lines are completely getting rid of the normal map (if you are using 1?) Also the leather is a bit to noisy in my oppinion, It's alot of color variation on spots where it doesn't make sense.
I like the bulky legs on the front, adds some nice character to the chair.

But good start on the textures!

Worked the texture around a bit, trying to get rid of the noise and the darker lines.
