GAMC #1 - lordgobbo

Well it's probably a little late to enter but I'll see what I can do. I wasn't sure I wanted to go with something sci-fi, the concept is proposing something in those lines but I think it might be a little obvious and since the goal is to stimulate creativity and experimentation I decided to go with something more low-tech, steam punk. I'll do a cooling device, probably made in wood, brass and iron. Nothing too fancy I want it to be something of the everyday life something that have been used alot.

Posting what I have now it's just the low rez, no detail yet really. There is 1404 triangle at the moment so I might add some detailing on the low res as I go and work on the hi res version.

A little paint over on the concept, just to give an idea of what I'm going for.

Mainly big panels of dark wood with brass plates. I'm not sure about the light yet, I was thinking about some sort of electrical device that would be under that cap there. And those would create a blue light.

Yeah I'm liking the wood paneling with brass straps, nice clean topology, and the little bit of draw mechanism poking out the bottom there stops the draw from looking like it's floating.
Good work!

I've been busy a bit the last few days and didn't have time to work much on that so I had to speed some stuff at the end. Not that happy with the result. I'm not too familiar with normal map extraction and how to work with them and I think maya viewport render doesn't show exactly what I wanted. I think for next one I'll try to render it from an engine, unreal or something like that I need to get more info about to do that before thought.

Here is some wireframe and screengrab I couldn't post in the submission tread.
