GAMC #1 - Wall Unit
Competition deadline - End of Sunday, August 16th. 2009, at 23h59 GMT.
WIP Threads should be posted HERE in the following manner 'GAMC #1 - Username'. The 'privileges' issue has been attended to, so you should now be able to start a thread. Competition Goal The main goal for this competition is to direct entrants to the task of creating portfolio-ready assets of a high-quality standard, whilst keeping them well optimised for use in a realtime / videogame engine environment within a tight timeframe. Competitions theme: Wall Unit Seeing as this is our first Mini Competition, we're going to be starting with the base unit below as a kind of blank canvas. As of now, the wall unit doesn't serve any particular purpose - We'll be looking at how you put purpose to this unit, be it as a medical terminal, an ammunition dispenser, a security terminal, etc. Whilst this is a more experiemental approach to narrowing down what the community wants the GAMC to be, keep in mind that you may not stray too far from the concept. ![]() Specs
During the voting period, every participant has the right to vote. Only people who have entered in one of the competitions has a voting opportunity. Voting without submitting work to the competition will be discounted and ignored. Voting for yourself is not allowed, unless less than 3 submissions are made. 2 members of staff will be voting each round. To vote, you reply to the voting thread, listing your top three as following: My top 3:The voting process will run for 1 week in a separate voting-thread. If you fail to vote during that week, you loose your right to vote in this competition. The winner will be the person with the highest score. Best of luck, Mini-Competition Staff Proudly supported by CGSociety Sponsored by CGTextures.com

Sweet this looks good :-)
one suggestion though; Could you make the deadline more obvious? Maybe make a note of it in both this thread as well as the submission thread. Also do the textures have to be rectangular? As I use Maya and not 3DS Max, Maya doesn't seem to like UV map's that aren't square. |

igi: I'm afraid that for this challenge there'll be no seperate wip-threads. There might be in the future though. But this is still a relatively small challenge where you're only asked to do a small prop, so this competition thread should suffice for now. Note that we don't ask for everyone to post their wips as soon as they have done minor changes.
wolfsage: It's posted at the top, last minute changes ![]() Not at all, you can split em up as you see fit, you may even use 8 256x256 textures if you want to. Once you post your submission however, they should be merged into a 1024x512, to avoid too many links.

Ayren: Everything you do should be included into the tri and texture-limit. It's alright to add a simple background and exclude it for the specs, but you shouldn't create a whole environment with props.
You may put stuff in the drawer though.
