I think this looks quite nice, but I kinda have to err on the side of caution and offer a tiny bit of advice as to the ratio of geometric detail vs texture detail.

With the size and the tri-count of the actual model, i think this would much better support a texture size of 1024 x 512 at the very most. I'd be much more impressed with it if you'd reduce the textures to fit more appropriately.

Saying that, it's a very nice peice. Solid work. I really love the style of it.

You have absolutley right but that's the problem with competitions. Almost everytime they have specificatons to square textures. Within this comp there is spec for one set of 1024x1024 texture and max 2k tris. I will be stiupid to use only half of the texture space. Mayby later i will try to bake all textures to new uv. Anyway, thanks for advice

Ahh. I thought it might've been that when I was writing my comment last night :P 1024x2 = two 1024* (to clarify, a 1024* = 1024x1024 :P). I thought you were saying you used 2x 1024x1024.

By today's engines, you could get away with a single 1024* for a prop this size, so long as the texture is super defined, with sharp shapes and clear texturework.

That said. I still really like the style of this weapon - it feels really weighted and clunky, which is something all space marine weapons should be

Oh. Welcome to the forum

Very nice work. Fits well into the WH40k style, well detailed textures, etc. Might actually be one of the best pieces of WH40k game art I've seen :P

I totally agree with james on this one, one of the nicest bits of 40K stuff I've seen for a long time.

More please

The model is great, the texture is great.. but I think it wouldn't work. It looks like it's destined to jam and explode if someone press the button to turn it on...

Jimi, it's not his concept, so there's not much he can do about that.

Sarayel, the model looks fantastic, did you win the minicomp then?
Also would you mind posting your texture maps?
