The book

12 tris
512 diffuse map

I'm gathering skills in photoshop so this is why I "skipped" modelling and spend time in texture working.

Not bad, it looks a little blurry though and I'm not sure if it's from the render or the texture. A good thing when showing a model and asking feedback on the texture is to post the texture... and wires too if you want feedback on the model.
The seam at the left side is obvious... and not nice. You can't see the pages that well... it may look better if you increase the contrast on the shadows between the pages to make them pop... and make those a little more damaged at the outside corner... I think it will make it look better.

I think it has a nice feel to it, and the texture contains detail. However, there's still room for improvement. So I would keep working on it, calling it a WIP rather than finished piece

The reason to why it's blurry, I assume is that the texture size is only 512x512, which will cause the texture to be blurry when trying to fit in too much detail. However, it would still probobly be a good idea to sharpen it up, giving a bit pixelated texture rather than blurry, as it'll look like it's more detailed once you zoom out.

Then, except from what's been said by Andrei here, which I second, there's one thing right now that I come to think of.

The letters on the book seems to have a certain depth, making them look as if they were to pop out of the book. But at the same time, they lack a bit of highlight and contour to really give them a realistic feel of depth.

So, that makes me wonder, do you intend to use a normal map?

In case you're not planning on using one, then give a sharper edge to the letters, and stronger highlights.

In case you are, then make sure to ditch the Light-tracer render, it completely eleminates any depth given by the normal map. And make sure to bring out the depth of the letters and inset at the pages.

Now then, please let us see those texture flats

Cheers mate!

I don't use any bumps yet since I don't want to make them without good color maps.

-I see that I'll havedo to many improvements to keep this work done in way it has to be, so I would kindly ask admin to move this thread in WIP section

And here is the modified stuff...have to work out the letters cus I've done this before Tiros posted his critics
