Spikey the robot

For which Engine - game art contest / portfolio
Polycount - LP 500 / HP 1.4 million
Texture Size - 512x512 diffuse, normal, specular, glow, opacity
Description of background information on piece - Did this for the remote robots mini-challenge at gameartisans. It's a tattoo and paint robot, hence the needly thingies and some tats on his body. I wanted a punk-ish look, something that would make him stand out, and wanted to use color, as i usually tend to very monochromatic works.

It's cute, really.
But it looks like there's too much sharp edges on the high poly model, so not all the detail is cast into the normal map.

I love the design though, the back rules!

Everything took me around 24 hours, spread across 4 days.

Of that, and because i timed myself, 12 hours for the hi poly, 1 hour for the low poly and uv mapping, 2 hours for HP/LP processing, 6 hours for the tex maps, and 3 hours for tests, tweaks and re-renders and misc stuff.

really nice work, I like the pinnk parts they add a perfect flash of colour I cant see anyway you could have squeezed more out of a 512 texture either

Really cool stuff
