Steampunk Killer

Steampunk Killer (lack of a better name)

This is a steampunk-like character that I’ve been working on for a couple of weeks. I used the pretty usual workflow for this one. I used a basemesh and took it into Zbrush, I sculpted and detailed all the clothing and the I retopologized the model and started the texturing process. I didn’t know what it would end up as in the end but I think it came out pretty good.

The model itself is pretty low landing on 3350 polys (6592 tris). The guns were made from the toy Nerf Maverick and has a polycount of 2440 polys each (4823 tris). Both guns and main model uses 2048×2048 Diffuse,Normal and Specularmap. The guns could of course be lower but it’s nice for the close-up shots, I also tried object-space normal map for the first-time, noticed that I didn’t go well when mirrored and I learned why, it came out with less baking errors though. It was a great learning experience for the understanding of normal maps.

EDIT: (new version based on IchII3D crit, thanks mate)

Nice work, its a lot more solid than some of your other characters. If I was to be critical I would say it needs something extra to help ground him a little, a pocket watch hanging out of his pocket? A visible belt? Not sure, just something to break up the consistency.

Sounds like a great idea mate, I'll add it tomorrow!

good job on this character.

I think his pose is quite unstable though. He seems even howering a bit. Left leg doesnt seem as a solid support, and his torso which is leaning back makes me feel he'll fall back next second.

Moeover, his design suggests a calm and cold person (sigar, glasses, tophat), actuslly reminds Hitman to me . Therefore in my oppinion a more calm and steady pose would suit him better.
He can still blow a smoke from his gun or have blod spatter around him anyways

His nerf mavericks would really benefit from having several different materials on them, especially to pop out the revolver cylinder, barrel, etc.

Good job I really like this character and his long body with top hat, the pocket watch is a nice addition too.

The left foot does look a little odd, perhaps make a bend on the end of the shoe where his toes would bend a little?

Thanks for the comments guys. Regarding the left leg, yeah it's about 1-2cm off the ground.
