Superman - Comicon 2009 entry

I havent been here for a while so I thought I would share my Comicon 2009 entry based on Alex Ross' Superman from Kingdom Come. everything was rendered in Marmoset and composited in photoshop. thank you very much for looking

It looks fantastic!

The main thing I noticed though was, the face has so much detail, and is so well defined, in comparison it doesn't seem to match the rest of the body. I know its hard to detail spandex (lol) but I personally feel if you better defined the muscles, and wrinkles, it would match up better.

Still, I love it.

I think it's fantastic as well I read those comics and you have nailed the concept just right, though the only thing I can say is that I think the specular on his boots is too shiny and its giving it a kinda plastic look. Though saying that seeing it in Marmoset it they look fine.

Also around the crotch area near the upper inner thigh near the front is kinda drooping slightly I think his crotch could be tucked up so you are implying the gentialia in that area not to sound homo erotic or anything as Supes is a man of hugh girth he would fill out most costumes.

i would do a paint over but I am at the library but I will show you with this picture of kingdom come supes so you see what I mean.

Other than that i think it's stunning dude really good job, I could learn alot from your work.

Sir Apple - thanks yea the balance between detail in the face and body has always worried me and still trying to keep with the ultra realistic feel of alex ross' artwork. I may revisit that when I get some time
Amotaf - thank you, I totally agree with you, I will pull some verts round Im always conscious of the crotch area as so many artists ignore it, including me this time

Myles - haha yea thanks man, Im working night and day to get better at the moment, I just left my job so I could move back to my hometown again after finishing up on the new silent hill game and its tough work getting my folio back to scratch. hopefully I will find another job soon or I might venture into freelance.
