CrazyBump
a screen capture using the program CrazyBump will help. Normal maps look very nice on that and can be tweaked to really O_O your face. You'd be amazed of what that program can do to your textures. Instead of shitty 3dsmax >_< ... well in my case.

generic materials like this are only the start. as is cgtextures. get out with a camera and gather stock. its much more satisfying. i still occasionally raid cgtextures. but only for little things and placeholders.
there is much to consider when making textures. and you really only find all the flaws in your textures until you use them on something. that is the test of a material. when showing off your materials, show the diffuse, spec, normal etc maps also. a lot can be told from them. this is an example. ![]() maybe not the best example, but at least it gives people an idea of what is going on with a material. good luck with your future textures. |
