I would do the valve, except that maya was messing me around and not letting me use cylindrical unwrap, so i got annoyed and didnt unwrap the valve properly lol

i am going to move onto the next test now (creating a high poly mesh in mudbox hehe), glad you like the materials

carboard box looks good material wise but could use some more edgedetail.
no cardboardbox has such smooth edges.

The concrete block doesnt really look like concrete.

hey thanks for feedback
i agree that the box is too perfect but it was more of a texturing excersise than anything and the concrete barricade hasnt got any colour map on it (its just a normal map on a low poly cube). hope that is what you meant

Well just because you use it as an exercise thing you should try to include any changes that could make it better so you understand what kind of details you might be missing and include them in your future projects.
As for the block, that was not what i meant.
What i don't like is that the "detail" you got on there looks too random.
You took some brush that kinda looked cool detail wise and just dented it here and there.
If you look at that block "concrete" is not the material you think of when you see it.

i think the amin problems with that fence are; scale. the barbed wire on the top looks too small compared to the fence wire. the supports look too flimsy and small. and the textures themselves dont make a lot of sense.
to improve, dont be afraid to use reference. and always think of how all the dirt/rust etc got there when doing a texture. hope this helps.
