Old processing room

Hi all. I just finished a small demo environment for Leadwerks Engine 2.0 and have a couple screenshots from the engine to share. Scene was designed in Max and textures mostly created in Photoshop, but with some photo source such as rust, gauges on the control panel, and grunge overlays. We may be following this up later on with full demo level.

I really like the style, only remark would be that I think normals have been overused a bit. A bit to bumpy to me so it feels a bit bloby.

Is this a new engine? I've never heard of it. Is it available for licensing or something?

It's been in development for a while, but Version 2 (which should be more game-ready than previous versions) is coming out sometime soon. Ish. And you can license Version 1 for $100 at the site and then you get the Version 2 upgrade for free.

The environment looks great Rich, although the tiles look a bit...Doom 3 plastic-y.

Theologic, Josh of Leadwerks wanted extra bumpiness in the normals. Those wacky programmers want to make sure you can see their effects

JPowers, as Dave said this is v2 of the engine. Version 1 was actually cancelled after a while in development. It was based on the Source engine style but that requires lots of different coding for BSP, static and dynamic meshes, terrains, etc. For version 2 here, everything is a mesh, and lighting matches on everything. This scene went from Max to engine with a running demo very quickly.

DaveW, now that you mention it, the tiles do look a bit plasticy to me as well. Not sure if it's my spec map that needs adjusting, or the shader. I'll check with Josh

Nice work. Feels welcoming and looks interesting. Two things I enjoy most about good environment art.

Good job. I like the dark atmosphere but I do feel that there is a lack of color, except for that orange light of course.

Very nice. What's the link to the site for the engine specifically?

Looks like a decent engine for small indies.

Leadwerks Software

There's a link on the page showing features. Almost everything is done. They're finishing up some animation stuff now.

Heh, I like the e-LIMB-enator chainsaw. Not sure about needing a 2048 for it, but still, looks cool. Very nice work again
