First Post, Hello to all
Attach a Thumbnail in JPG or GIF format. If not, your thread will be deleted without notice.
All to all, my name is Franco and I'm currently a Lead 3d artist at a company were I create real time interactive product models for companies such as Dell, Panasonic, Cisco, just to name a few. Theses are some stills of some models from work. No lighting or renders, just some good old viewport grabs from Max. |

Hey there Sifer, some really nice stuff there
![]() How did you get the textures down so well for the Cisco server thingy.. a lot of photos, eh? ![]() Anyhow, I don't mean to offend you in any way, and I'm not even sure about this... But there might be a rule on the forum which says to keep it to game-art/apps only, unless we're posting in the general thread that is. Well, I never had to think about such a rule for myself as I only came here for game-art though, so I might be wrong. Better check with a moderator or Requiem2d himself ![]() Great work on those models nevertheless ![]() Cheers

Hello, welcome sifer!
![]() although the models look a bith high poly for game art, the textures and material definitions look superb. Is there any chance that you can show us some texture maps?

Hello fellas thanks for the kind words and warm welcome.
Tiros: Ya the Cisco model I did happen to use a little be more photo resources then I usually do. On each project I'm given ampule amount of photography for reference to insure the model is 100% accurate and if needed I'm able to sample them for textures. Although I don't like doing that often, but in this models case I had to do. Do to the amount of labeling, boards, and plugs, I'd say the textures 60% photo resource on the Cisco model. Doylle: Ya I wasn't sure if anyone would consider these models game art, I just figured because there real-time I'd post them up. The models are actually used for two platforms. One is for the web, which the models are exported as a .VRML out of Max then converted into an .XMM file to be imbedded in to a Java applet for interactive web tours. The other is a 46" HD touch screen were the user is able to rotate, zoom in and interact with the model . Same exporting process is used. I'm given a budget of 20,000 tris, but never use all of the budget. I like to stay under only because I like the challenge of keeping it low and plus for performance on the final out-put. For instance the Cisco model is 14,000 tris, I pasted a link below of the model that is live on the web. Give it a second and a imbedded JAVA window will pop up imbedded in the web-page and start the 3D tour, give it a spin. that's great. Looks better than any other 3d web apllet i've seen before tbh. ^^
Even with he photosourced textures it's still has a very solid and coherent style, so i wouldn't worry to much about it. ![]()

hey Sipher...welcome man.
Your models look great. I checked out the link and the presentation is very nice. A little slow with the rotation and such, but looks good. Even though this is a game-art forum, your stuff really isn't that high poly. It's nice to see some photo real stuff that could be used in a game as well. I could see all this stuff in a labratory in Resident Evil 6! Ha Ha. Kepp up the good work! |

Hi Doylle: Thanks for the kind words. We have in-house proprietary software called V-Space Master to set-up the animations sequences and place the hot spots on the model. If you've heard on Strata 3D, the architecture is built off of our software.
BloodRobot: Thanks for dropping a line and taking the model for a spin. Ya I wasn't sure if anyone would take notice since it wasn't game art, but I thought I'd share something different. It would be sweet to put all of my models from work in an old dingy underground abandoned lab or warehouse environment for my reel. Thats going to be alot of stuff, last I counted all the models that I built since I've been at my current position was I think 170, could be more I think. I want to thank you guys for such a warm welcome and support. Although I very much enjoy what I do in my current position and work with a great team. I've always wanted to be part of the very exciting and evolving game industry. Things are starting to taper off at work so I'm starting to have a little more free time, so that means I can get back to some personal projects. I'll throw something I've been meaning to wrap-up in the W.I.P section, so if you get a minute I'd love to get your comments or crits. |
