I was just kidding about the rust...I would of killed Ben if he put rust on there.
I do have to say though that the colors go well together imo. I also like the amount of wear and look of the metal armor on there, it helps it come across as a stylized sci-fi character, yet it still has a realistic feel to it. It also seems to me that the armor colors help compliment the face. My eyes automatically work their way up there from the darker legs to the yellow to the head. If that made any sense... ![]() I dunno I think the execution of the model is quite good. Props to ya Ben ![]()

![]() Maybe a no-go is a bit exaggerated, though you really shouldn't pick Bart Simpson or Cartman as design examples ![]() Thing is, there's quite a difference with the painting you show. First of all that was painted traditionally, and the green shadows he has there (which make yellow and blue work a bit better together) are a choice he made to get a feeling like photo's developed in C41 chemicals. If I just flip between them, the painting blends way better because the yellow obivously has hints of orange, which is completely gone on your texture. Also, the blue only occurs on the skin of the Tau in the painting, while you have it scattered on other parts as well. Another thing is that, apart from the painting, the saturation of all your colors is quite low (notice how the saturation on all the examples you named is a lot higher, especially for the red). It's quite a challenge to match the colors of a painting like that, but i think you could do a better job at it than now. And i'm just telling you because I was really expecting a lot from this (as in, perfection, like it was until the very end of your WIP thread ). |

the scanned image of the painting is a lot more saturated than the image in the book, thats what you get for using a crappy scanner I guess. Look up Tau firewarrior on google images and every single one will have a different tone of yellow or orangey yellow
Theres no reason why you shouldnt crit, I appreciate your opinions. But being told that I am wrong for making colour choices, and that I have dissapointed you is quite funny tbh. I'm sorry for doing that ![]()
