50' boxcar

Haven't posted anything in a while so thought I'd get this up. Just finished up this boxcar model, the first piece of a full train set. The train is being done for Leadwerks Engine for a demo level of a 20 car physics linked train running around the level. The trucks/wheels are seperate from the boxcar to allow for realistic curves.

Poly count for LOD1 seen here of the boxcar is 2008. Trucks are 644. 1024x1024 diffuse, spec and nmap for boxcar. 512x512s for trucks. There's some small details which could be a little better, but these cars are needed quickly, so maybe in the future I'll get back to them. I'll post up more cars as I complete them.

Here's one of them videos. Super simple level, just testing physics on the tracks...and what happens when you take the tracks and the ground away

really great model
also a cool vid, too bad that its so small...
one thing tough, i think you could add some AO to the vertical bars on the side of the car
and maybe some scratches on the side, like when little rocks or other stuff hit the side of the wagon

Quick update for the next piece in the train, the engine. Based loosely on a SD40 design. Still some stuff I'll be fixing up on it, if I get the chance to.

The model looks alright there. But the texture could use some work though. What you have now looks like a base texture. But this is where the cool stuff should start. Trains like the one you have there have all kinds of marks and stickers and numbers on them. And in many cases a 2 color paintjob... Just google around if you haven't already, i'm sure you'll see what i mean.
Btw, if you decide to further work on this, then you better make a new post in the wip section, or i can move this post if you like. This section of the forum is reserved for completely finished pieces...

Few more finished pieces. Also followed doylle's advice and changed the paint job on the engine. We're avoiding numbering/lettering on the cars for now though.

I think these new pieces are looking brilliant. Especially like the coal car, I think you have nailed that one. I'm not really feeling the new color on the engine, might just be me though. The flat car looks very well done also except the inside of the metal pipe, it looks quite blurry.

Looking excellent overall, keep it up.
