Some initial concepts; think I'm going to go for a War General!
The bear is my favourite, what do you think?

Hey cool concepts. The bear has an uncanny resemblance to the one in the Art of World of Warcraft book, did you use that as reference? Would be cool if you could give it a body and clothes with some kinda uber weapon

@Kanga- Sweet predator-style throwing weapon! Love the MGS-esque exclamation point, btw

@wolfsage- Bear general ftw! You should give him a giant honey dipper as a weapon

Trying to flesh it out, so a quick sketch before work. Playing with shapes right now....

If you want to know how to do that check out Ben Mathis's tutorials on his site, he still has an ol light bake from lopo tute there I think.

Retopoing the low poly from a high res sculp would be much quicker than box or traditional modeling. I think I will box model this one, just for old times sake.
Ah, ok, that would be my second question, and I hadn't seen it anywhere, so we can bake AO from the lowres mesh, that is cool. Thanks!

Working on the anatomy. I really struggle with concepting (and drawing, in general), so this practice is badly-needed

...and yes, he will have some armor

Seems AO baking from the hi res is ok. That makes it easier for me too

@ Polygoblin, one thing that occurred to me was that a chameleon has those huge eyes that scope around. How would they look with your concept?

@Kanga- I want to give him big and round chameleon eyes, but I'm trying to pull them closer together in a convincing way so that he has an attractive face from the front. I was thinking of putting a sniper's patch over one eye...

I had an interesting idea for my character's weapon;
I'm thinking of attaching two separate segments of a gigantic sniper rifle to each forearm. My plan is to fasten these pieces down somehow to hold them steady. The general idea is that he positions his arms a certain way so the gun becomes functional. I haven't figured out how I want to restrain the pieces, but I'll probably use mechanical sleeves of some sort (not drawn out yet). Take a look at what I came up with so far....

*edit- after a night's sleep, and fresh eyes, I see multiple design flaws. This concept will be redrawn the old fashioned way

I want to keep the two pieces usable individually as melee weapons, but can be aligned quickly and believably when taking a shot. This rifle is meant to give Mirage the ability to climb, crawl, or hang from anything and take a shot from awkward angles without having to lug around a heavy rifle.

Nothing's concrete. Comments and feedback welcome
