GAMC #4 - Doolodes

I'm new to this site, I'm basically just looking for criticism. Looking at what people have already done, I don't have a chance.



I'm at 383 polygons so far, this is my low poly model.

Update

Got a little farther, I'm at 872 polygons with some test textures on it.



3,000 polygon limit is much harder then I thought.

Remember it's triangles not polygons. A polygon can be 1 triangle or it can be a million so be careful with n-gons.

Anyway nice start.

Your base cylinder looks very high polygon - something like 40+ sides?

It's 36 sides, even at that, you can see the edges.

it's far too much you should reduce to something like 16-20 if you want to get under 3000tri count.

remember to smooth the thing, shouldn't be that bad with those sides if you make a highpoly and bake it. not sure you have done that before though since you started out this way, but it really adds to the geometry and hides the edges pretty well.

Redid a lot of work, I am going to bake it so I went for even lower detail on the low poly.

I'm getting real close to finishing the low poly. Normal mapping and unwrapping this might be more then I can handle.
