Competition #8 - cnflkt

Hi guys, I new here and i saw the competition on Friday at work and through what that hell, it's a bit late but I'll give it ago.

I played about with a few idea, pick-up with cat-tracks, buggies, etc, after looking at what others were doing, i wanted to do a train since no-one else was didn't know if it would be a good idea (since surely after a apocalyptic war trains would have been virtually wiped out (well thats my logic anyway)) then i remember Madmax did have a truck train hybrid thing happening so i decided to do a train (someones got to move the precious stuff eh)?

So here it is post/war hauling - Armored hauler (still got to work on the armor a bit ;>)

I don't know if I'll finish. However I will try my damnedest to.

I don't know whether to keep the tank or just lose it, since technically it's a 2nd vehicle, however i feel it give purpose to the hauler. - but will give me (more) issues in texturing.

Thinking of cutting back all the window and vent detail, normal mapping that stuffs

regards

Wow that's quite an impressive use of 4000 polys. At first glance it looks like more.

Great idea. The tank adds something extra that kicks it up another notch in my opinion. I can already see an awesome texture with radioactive waste leaking out. Would look great with a glow map

I hope you find the time to finish!

That's a sweet idea dude I love it. I also hope you can finish this in time. I wouldn't keep the tank in normal circumstances but since the comp is close to the end if you don't use it you'll have to work a lot more on the details of the hauler... so it might be best to go with what you have now and make a good texture. The model looks great so far.

I personally think a train would look a little bare without something dragging along behind it, so yeah keep the tank. Anyway I'm sure you can finish if you try hard enough (I only started 2 days ago after all ). Looking forward to seeing this textured.

cheers guys!

Yeah 4000polys, however it hasn't been easy, had real problems with the wheels and gubbins since i didn't want to make em just blocks, still not happy with billboarded wheels but they suffice and give me another 150 polys to play with.

The tank is coming in at around 800polys still on the fence to as whether it should go or not. i think for the moment i'll keep it, comments have been helpful cheers!
