Competition #8 - StefanH

Hey Guys,

I'm new here, hello and greetings to the game-artist.net community.

Kind of a late start here but I think i can pull it off. I also have another idea regarding a ultra-light flying vehicle up my sleeves but the mechanical details arent sorted out yet.

so here it is so far. It's a sand selfmade postapocalyptic buggy with strong engine, double tires on the back and big exhaust pipes (still waiting to be added) and so on.

Will keep you updated and looking forward to comments from you.

Update:



some of the geo isnt aligned 100% but i want to get to texturing as fast as possible because i think thats what makes or breaks a model
No problem to do that later

Sweet model... and very detailed. With smoothing groups and a nice texture it will look awesome. What are those 2 boxes on the top ?

hey thx guys, yor entry looks great andrei

the box on top is a travel box or ammo box, will add some straps to fix it on the roof later.
there are also some boxes on the back. Just want to show that the car is actually used in daily life

Hehe, thanks I noticed the boxes on the back and it's a nice detail but wasn't sure what the ones from the top are. What's the status on the project? Did you start unwrapping or you're still working on the model (optimizing, adding detail)?

I'm going to build a few highpoly pieces for normalmapping, where its worth it.
- Tires
- Hood
- Boxes
- Seats
- Steering wheel
the rest will be fine with imagebased normalmapping i think

after that i will unwrapp and texture it
right now I'm looking through some references. There were some great images posted on this forum which i all saved to HD

Some highpoly, nothing too fancy it's all rust anyway haha



in case you are wondering, the tire track is just a bump map which will be baked in the normal map

here's some texturing work in progress, the rims and the grey areas are next to be painted.
There is also no specularity map yet.
