Competition #8 - sethodie
I want to make vehicle that is mix of 60's style car with AFV or tank. I have seen something like that on web page of Russian artist Timur Mutsaev http://www.timurmutsaev.com. I have also collected some pictures of Oldsmobile 88, Buicks and other big old American cars.
First I want to make some sketches and than start modeling in Modo. Here is on of Mutsaev's cars: ![]() |

First sketch on photo from web. I want to make front window very small with hatches like in tanks. There will be no side windows. Lights will look like WWII vehicle lights. I am not happy with bumper and front part - it should be reworked. Rear wheels will be hidden. On the top of the roof I want to add hatch with gun. Mabe there should be some guns mounted in the front? Maybe like in WWII airplanes?
It is still very concept sketch. A lot should be changed. ![]() |

I never really understood forward mounted guns unless they were melee... I mean, it's a hassle to get them working if the vehicle is long, or depending on some other stuff, and it would probably be a bit hard to reload them.
With turret weapons, there are no such problems, and they can aim 360 degrees (sometimes atleast ) |

Nice concept, cool how you've reworked a photo. You say guns mounted in front like a WW2 plane, sounds good, open up the hood and pose some huge, long M2 .50 cal's on it. And add some more flair to it with details or some accent color.

Here is side view, that will be used as blueprint. Next will go top front and back views. I want to establish proportions first and than start work on details like bumpers, hatches etc. I have gathered a lot of photos of old cars, so there will be enough material for inspiration
.I wonder if it is good idea to add big petrol can soldered to the the back. ![]() |

ahhh.....an unarmoured completly exposed ignightable full tank...not really practical or feasible - but something like a gear pack, luggage, accesories that couldn't be stored inside (like those fully kitted out tanks witch have all this stuff stowed in bags and netting on the outside)
maybe atleast a spare tire to the back? but awesome concept anyway - but i'd hate to be the driver in a hot climate - you'd be boiled like a lobster :P |

Thanks for all comments
.I have finally decided to base my car on Ford from 1940. After weekend I have very rough 3d sketch of my model and here are some screens of unoptimized mesh. I want to add some details (gun on top etc.) It has about 3400 traingles, but after rebuilding will go smaller. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
