Spheres Break Loose ! - Specifications & Rules



Theme

Time to move from 250 poly's to 250 Million ! The Mudbox trial was recently released to the public and as a result we are teaming up with the Skymatter Limited team to bring you the first Game-Artist.Net sculpting challenge ! Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to start with a Simple Sphere within Mudbox and make the funniest thing possible with it ! You can't import anything into Mudbox or use another primitive.

Mudbox Trial Software

If you have already used up your trial and still wish to participate, please provide your Request ID's ("Activate your Workstation") in the thread entitled Spheres Break Loose ! - Expired Trial. On Wednesday evening, any request ID's will be forwarded to the Mudbox team for trial extensions and you will receive activation codes 1-2 days after within the original thread (at this point the thread will be locked).

1st Place will win a Mudbox Educational V1.0 (equivalent of a non-commercial Professional v1.0), if you already have this, you can upgrade to Basic v1.0 if you wishJudging will be based on 2 criteria, 50% Funny Factor & 50% Originality.

Submission Guidelines

Entry Deadline is the End of Monday the 12th of March GMT +-0 as time zone.

Work in Progress should be posted by yourself in a seperate thread named by using the prefix "Competition #7" and your Username as thread title, i.e. "Competition #7 - requiem2d". This is not required, but if you may want to receive some advice and feedback before submitting then feel free to create one.

Final Submissions should be posted by yourself in the thread titled "Competition #7 Spheres Break Loose - Submissions". Please note that to be able to submit, your entry must be a complete piece.

Provide the following -
  • Mudbox Screen Capture of Final Piece 800x600 (this is from Mudbox, you can you multiple screen caps to create a collage of different perspectives, no additional touching up in other software allowed)
Failure to meet the above or incorrectly post your submission will be brought to your notice a single time, if the issue has not been fixed by the contest deadline, the entry will be eliminated. If you attempt to cheat by either not following the rules above, copying work or using past works you will be disqualified immediately.

Game-Artist.net reserves the right to amend any of the above during the course of the Contest.
