Looks awesome, man, really like the red hot glow

I'd maybe have a look at the texture of really hot metal. It's often sort of flaking off it's outer layers with slightly cooler parts on it. And thicker areas (like the horizon between the sharpened blade and the body of the blade) get a little darker - would probably help show the shape of the blade a bit better.

A little more yellow wouldn't go amiss either, I think :x

But yeah, digging it

Yoyo! I was thinking about adding some blistering to the cooler parts, but because every side of the blade is shared in UV space, the mirroring of the texture is really apparent. Grrr. I could possibly make it more noisey, rather than having singular, big shapes, just so it's a bit harder to recognise on the other instanced geo.

I see what you mean about the yellow bro. I don't think my axe-mace is hot enough! Thanks for the links

Thanks guys

G

Alright, from my own experience of glowing metal, which is, relatively no experience at all.. I thought it were a bit too coloured and lacked of metall'ish look.. but, I mean.. It still looks good, and It's not for me to decide.. So, other than that, it's looking great

Okee. I don't think I'm going to get this done before the deadline. I'll still work on it over the next couple of days to finish it, but real life intervenes, unfortunately.

Extracted the normals this afternoon, with some help from Mike (RetardedMonkey, cheers mucker ). Then tried the hotter glow, but after a few attempts it still looked crap so I did away with it altogether. :P

Anyways. So far

Please note that the texture is only about 50% finished.

Good luck to everyone. Thanks for all your crits so far

its a spear? or something along those lines?

tho'.. if it is made for sticking it into the enemy I think its not of great use, since ittl just stick into him and wont come out.....its something like a harpoon to me now...

but nevertheless it looks dope man keep it up

Think of it like a multi-use weapon. Sure, you could throw it at your enemy, but then I guess you could do that with any kind of weapon, with various effect.

It's use would be more like a battle, or a some kind of long-staffed mace. More specifically, it's a mace made with 3 axe-like heads, forged in the bowels of some twisted dark-armies weapon factory, for the dispatch of the above-dweller's by the hands of the hero sorcerer.

But yeah. Battle axe/mace

Nonono. That's it! I've changed my mind.

You fire it from a bow.

This thing is so big and heavy, it's going to need a trained team of midgets to operate the machine that fires it.

And that can only be a good thing.
