Ok well I got some spare time today so I added a few edges as Glynn said. So now I've only got 8 tris left to use, and no clue where to put them. From what I can see, there really isn't anywhere that I can add them that will really make much of a difference in how the axe looks. So I'll probably be finishing up the uv layout tonight, and hopefully get to work on the texture some. Anyway here is an updated look at the axe head after adding those few edges.

Maybe use the extra tris for a big bolt on the back of the axe.

I could, but I'm actually trying to stay as true to the reference photo as possible. So not using the 8 tris isn't too big of a deal. I've got alot of work ahead of me with the texturing and the normal map, so I don't think I'm gona add anymore geometry to the model, because I've arlready gotten most of the uv map laid out. But thanks for the suggestion anyway Slip.

Well, just to note here.. no, there's nothing wrong with your blade and such, it's good.. and yes, it might look a bit thin, but metal could be hardened and it would probobly hold quite well, the only thing is the handle though.. cause you know, the axe on the reference pic is actually more of a decorative weapon and aint made for fighting with, therefore they only make it as it looks best and don't care about durabillity or what to call it.

But.. Most people here used magical and fantasy'ish things, so, there's no telling if it'll hold or not since it might be magical or whatever, I think it looks good, and yes, stick to the reference image

/e Fixed some typos, I'm afraid I can't live with 'em!

Actually Zeinthar you are right, the handle is a bit thin. I could actually probably just resize it a bit, and have it not mess with the uv layout since I'm not adding any new geometry anywhere. But in all honesty since it's not being used in real life I don't see any reason to change it, but your post is much appreciated in stating your points.

Yes, I'm not sure 8 polys will be enough to do much smoothing on the blade though? But, might be worth giving it a try.. I'd say the bottom tip of the axe has a bit too steep angle on the backside of the blade, facing the handle.. That's where you should smooth it in that case

and maybe, you could extrue the tip of it so that the sharp surfaces meet at the bottom? I'm not usure if it'll look better once you put the textures on, but.. thought I'd might just give you some suggestions here.. not sure if you started on the UV layout either of course.

/e Though, it might be better slicing the lower tip and weld the flat thingy together.. if you know what I mean, heh
