That pointy, curved tip of the staff could be unwrapped better taking up less space and making it easier to texture.

I would make a texture for the handle go from the top to the bottom and make sure it is tillable vertically it should mach up left and right also then sense the handle is so long you could stretch the uv vertically out of the uv space as needed to make them look good so the pixel ratio looks good next to the blade and the rest of the paces

did it make sence kind of hard to put into words
what are you using to lay out the uv's

Made perfect sense. My uvmap looks just like yours now. I was trying to figure out a way to get good proportions on the handle. Everything is done in 3dsmax 8.
