I think you might have problems with that colour scheme. Green + Red = contrasting colours, and usually look quite uneasy when placed within the same design. This might look perfect if you went for a more gold-looking material, or possibly ivory?
The details you have on the front part of the bow look ace though. It might just be a question of changing the hue to something more complimentary. How many tri's spare? G

0 tris spare. It's 250 on the dot!
There's no green in it; it's all browns/reds/yellows, but like I said, I'll play around some more. Might try and push it closer to a green/blue scheme... not sure yet :P *edit; Here we go, liking this now. Took your advice about the ivory and I've changed everything over to a blue and green colour scheme. I've also updated the pattern to a more thorny one to match the overall theme. ![]() Last edited by Talon; 14-02-2007 at 02:17 AM. Reason: Updated with picture. |

I'm really liking the new colours. I know there is a dark metal that greens when it's distressed, but I can't remember its bloody name. Grrr.
I think you should lighten up the actual detailing on the front a bit. When you start working on the texture for the braces that are holding the bow together, they might get lost. I'm having a bit of trouble making it out from this distance and it's looking a bit noisey because of it. One question - The vial. I was thinking that'd be the head of an arrow, but because you've put it in that position for the last couple of screenies, I'm not sure what it's purpose is. What's it for? :P I think you should keep going in this direction. I've liked the design of this since the start ![]() G

since this is down the fantasy lane anyway, you might want to try a quick color spec map. I think it'd be nice to have the metal part spec a bit more colorful, ie have it shimmer in a matching blue/green hue. might give you a good idea what colors/lightness to go for.
as for the colors themselves: the design of the bow reminds me of an elvish design. while that to a certain degree goes with the dark colors, the yellow/brown one isn't doing anything for me. I personally would have preferred a lighter color scheme, but then again I don't want you to change the whole thing just because of me again :P so stick with the dark, maybe lighten the teal a bit though. other than that it's looking great, I like the pattern you put on there.
