I think by "medieval" it basically means: swords and stuff. So I would assume yes.

The medieval period over laps with a lot of other periods. The romans still had an empire when the medieval period began.

ok Ill guess ill do an ancient weapon.
As for the beginning of the middle ages, I believe it began after the fall of the roman empire, i might be wrong so that is why I asked in the first place.

Edit:
Some reference I found, might inspire, And images food resolution.

Yes the medieval times did start after the fall of the Roman Empire, as it was the catalyst. Though something to remember is that the Middle Ages started at different times in different places, and a definate date is dificult to place. But one of the reasons people get the idea that the Roman Empire existed in the middle ages was because there was the "Holy Roman Empire" which was, in fact, just people striving to be the Roman Empire as it was seen as the perfect empire. Though funny enough, there were two seperate "Holy Roman Empires" running at the same exact time completely oblivious to the others existance. So they were just posers to put it simply.

But I think what is generally meant here is the generalization of 'Medieval', consisting of anything in which swords, shields and armor where used. (no offense intended)

So with that in mind, How far back into the Roman Empire are we allowed to go?

Think Crusades time for Holy Roman Empire.

Are we allowed to submit more than one entry?

Very cool competition, I think I might join this one.
I am wondering; is a cannon like for example a culverin allowed ? Or should we just stick to simpler, handheld weapons ?

Stick to simpler things, no firepower. We're looking for things that are/are close to the ones from the page that was provided in the Specifications: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_medieval_weapons

EDIT: I just noticed that the culverin is on that list. My bad... better let requiem2d answer this one. Anyway, this could answer those other questions about what exactly to make

Since in the last comp this wasn't allowed I think we should keep this as a rule. We'll let you judge your entries and submit your best one and we'll do the rest. You can post as many as you want in the WIP.

Technically correct, however part of the contest is having the exact same specs for everyone, including texture ratio. Cheers
