Nice looking crate, good idea on adding some environment shot to it. As for the texture, I think you've got a nice start there. I'd increase the specularity and/or contrast in your texture a bit, but as you said, still WIP.

Ok I "finished" the crate and added it to the submissions thread. It's the first time I've ever done a "proper" normal map by painting in details etc. It's still not great, teh small grate is a little too smooth for my liking, but it's all learning.
