this is me so far...

still need to clean some parts, nothing big though... I think getting it all on a 512 texture will be the hard part...

Nice, that some kind of cellophane wrap around the bulk of it?

yea, that's the idea. well, i'm not realy sure what i'm going to make it. could be just fabric, or maze, or plastic, dno yet.

fixed smoothing groups and added some tris here and there. Got exactly 200 now.

update on the texture

i'm making it a WW2 Supply Set, or something...

Texture is about 75% done i think. It's almost pixel art, hence the small render.

Looking good there Doylle, I think maybe bring some darker shades into the fabric, it's looking quite 'washy' if that makes sense. The "412-12" needs to be a bit warped where the crease is, it seems to lay flat where the fabric folds.

Are you anti-56k by any chance? There's a lot of wasted space .

Aaron.

you could have made the hole in the side without the extra poly's. But It's a well thought crate, nice work!

thx guys.

@Pankake: i made them a little darker... hope they look beter now. I didn't touch the 412-12, becouse i'm already using a 10 pts type, and distorting that only messed it up more...

@Wesley : Damn, you're right. So stupid of me. I think i'm just going to leave it like this for now. I'm not going to use the tries anyway, so i'm fine with it. (you can call it laziness if you like )

i'm still playing around with the colours, but i like the one on top most, it has that kind of washed out WW2 photo style, which fits the theme well...

hey doylle, this is lookin pretty darn good i must say. the painterly style would work really well in say a game like commandos.

my 0.02$:

1: uf u got a poly or two to spare, add some here to make the shape of the geo be consistent with the texture. Now the illusion of a fold is kinda broke when it gets to the edge.

2: ground these crates to the big one with some subtle shadowing.

Nice crate! I really like the texture work, I wasn't to sure about it until it was textured. But now that it's textured I think its looking real good. Got a nice shot at first...if you can handle the power of my blue box

Only crit I have is that the lower strap is kind of wierd on the left side, how it lifts up slightly. Doesnt look natural to me, would look better, in my opinion, if it dropped down a little. Also for the canvas, it seems like you could use some more fabric texture as a nice little overlay for what is there already.
