Submissions thread: http://www.game-artist.net/forums/showthread.php?t=626 Ranking: 1st(tie)-nkoste and Chris Holden 3rd-Alchemist101 4th-Davision 5th-nazul Final Average Scores: 10.667-Davision 16.000-Chris Holden 14.333-Alchemist101 16.000-nkoste 04.667-nazul UnAlternate Name Concept Model Texture Final Render ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Davision 3 3 2 2 for me, the texture is clearly what keeps this one down. in the end though, i would probably accept it in unreal without complaining too much. Chris Holden 4 4 4 4 great one. good use of normal and specular maps, i like the modeling and general shape too. this one is the winner for me. Alchemist101 3 3 3 3 once again kept down by the texturing. sits quite well in the final shot though. nkoste 4 3 4 4 interesting concept, shape and clearly much thought put into the texturing of this one. sadly the fps-view shot feels a bit cropped. nazul 2 2 1 1 there's nothing particularly wrong with the shape, i actually think it could look interesting, but the actual modeling and texturing leaves a lot to be desired. kungfusquirrel Name Concept Model Textures Final Render ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Davision 3 4 3 3 Decent silhouette and shape, but loses a bit in the texture work. Some elements look like they could be better 'grounded' within the skin. Weapon looks like it could animate well. Almost might benefit from a larger size in the FPS view. Chris Holden 4 5 4 4 Great functional-looking design. Poly count used very well; the geometry detail is all very noticeable. Would love to see this style gun with some more moving parts involved. Alchemist101 4 4 4 4 Great shape and silhouette, but looks like it could have been done in a few fewer polys, or bolstered up elsewhere. The vibrant colors are a nice touch, but the less detailed-looking grey on the back detracts a bit. Weapon pulls off very well in the game environment. Very unreal-esque. nkoste 4 4 5 5 Cool design, though it's a little difficult to make out the overall shape from FPS view. Almost more pistol like, and does remind me of the Halo plasma pistol (in a good way). Excellent texture work and detail - the oozing is a great touch. While the silhouette in FPS view is a little lacking, this gets my top vote. nazul 1 1 1 1 Texture is pretty much non-existant. The shapes all feel very off and the silhouette is very nondescript. Looks very rushed. sinistergfx Name Concept Model Textures Final Render ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Davision 2 3 2 2 The design doesn't seem to be too well thought out, especially the lower parts. A lot of the gun is a bit too boxy, angling more of the surfaces would help a lot. The grey parts of the textures could use a bit of color to break up the monotony. Lack of attention to detail (the screws are all turned the same way) also hurt this entry. Chris Holden 4 4 3 4 Overall good design and execution. I would have liked to have seen some love put into the texture with location specific damage and wear. Alchemist101 4 3 4 4 A fairly solid entry. The texture looks a little too "artificial" but holds up pretty well. This is my pick for the winner. nkoste 4 3 4 4 If only more of the gun was visible in the first person view; this one would have scored higher. Clearly a lot of effort went into the textures, but they ended up a bit too busy. A little less grime, a little more design would have knocked the textures up to a 5. nazul 1 1 1 1 The design doesn't look like it had much thought put into it (cylinder with a flat side and some stuff sticking out). The model has a bunch of polies that don't contribute much to form. Put some effort into the texture next time. Special thanks to our judges, UnAlternate, Kungfusquirrel and SinisterGFX |
