Davision

Hi all
Im new to the Forum... found it yesterday and i was immediately inspired by the ut weapon challenge.
I love the UT universe and cant wait for UT 07.
I know im a bit late but i will do my best to get a quality weapon done.

I decided to make a new version of the Flak Cannon. My attempt is to make it more brutally and powerfull looking. Here is what i did till now:

welcome to the forums mate

Thats a great start, theres nothing really to crit so far although the 2 cylinders at the top of the gun could maybe use some more edges if you have the polys to spare

allready mapped it... i will try to get it rounder looking with the texture.
I made some changes and put very simple colour on it to get a overall look:

Hey,

I like the weapon model alot, but the texturing is to basic and clean. Game textures for models are all about layers upon layers of stuff in photoshop. Nothing is going to look perfectly clean, unless its for a cartoon game or something. But since its for unreal, I would add some rust maybe and dirt and grunge.

He said it's basic colours, not the actual texture

I think it looks quite cool. I think those cylinders on the gun should be rounder and have those holes modelled on, though. I'm sure you can spare the poly's.

Here is what i did till now
I made most of the cylinders rounder
I did the texture, but its only the up-to-date diffuse map. I will reduce the intensity of the scratches on the diffuse when i make the bump and specular map.

Saw your final entry in the submissions thread. I think it looks great, but if you get the chance to fix some things up you should flatten your diffuse. It has a lot of lighting painted in, which reduces the value of the bump and spec. This way, when it's in game with a lot of different lighting angles it can be more effective. Also, the spec could use some more love and color.

Anyway, good, clean weapon. Thanks for the submission.
