actualy this post was mostly a test to see if i could get some honest crits if i posted something 100% terrible. sometimes people just need to be told honestly that they really need to work on their art, and that what are doing is wrong.. instead of the generic "good so far!!" that you commonly see posted on forums.

no art is ever perfect. sometimes we walk on eggshells in an atempt to not hurt the feelings of begining modelers.. and the shame is thats the people that usualy need the honnesty the most.

i'm not saying be a jerk and tell people they suck and should quit modeling. but really that gun model i posted should have gotten some serious ripping. it was just some spheres and torus with a horrible rust texture.

it does not look like my gun was dipped in acid.. it looks like it was dipped in a barrel of ass, and then dried off with a no-skill towel. and someone should have told me that,, point me to some tutes that would help, or some clever tips in using reference.

instead i get a few tactfull posts skirting around and slightly hinting at the terribleness of the model.. but no reall sugestion on improving.. and beyond that.. for somereason several of the posts get deleted! then return!

for a forum to help its members grow it needs to be a constructive place that enables learning.
be nurturing of the beginers. not patronizing.

On saying that, we have no context of your skill level or abilities.

If we know you can do better, most people would say so. However as far as we know (and as far as that model would indicate) you're a total newbie to this and saying "it's bollocks, start again from scratch" is quite harsh and demoralising. Even having several of the regulars here kindly stating that it's rubbish could really kill a newbie's morale.

And, frankly, as far as that model indicates, it's a joke post or a lost cause to start with... :x

talon you are WRONG verry WRONG when i first picked up max i would be hard pressed to make something better than that gun. but luckly i surounded myself with people that would tell me that what i was doing was not right, and would point me to the propper direction. just saying.. no one is a lost cause.

Sure your points are true but you are missing out on something. The difference in people. Some can take the heat and some canīt.

Didnīt even see your post before the explanation post came up so i didnīt have a chance to say something but if i did i would say "lose the attitude". Take it you werenīt that serious though in what you said before. Anyway.

How about making a new gun now?
