Unreal Weapon - Specifications & Rules

EXTENDED, SEE BELOW !



Theme

To produce a 1st Person Weapon which matches the Unreal franchise style-wise. This means you need to produce a weapon which has a similar style and fits into one of the following weapon categories (must be taken from the Unreal 2004 weapon choices, i.e. has to fire the same projectile):

As this is a 1P (1st Person) weapon, you may delete unseen faces or choose to model the whole gun. However, it is important to realize that the 1P view will be the image with the most weighting. For those who don't know, the 1P view is what you see when playing First Person Shooters such as Unreal, Half Life or Far Cry. To understand it better, see examples here:It is imporant that you do not replicate, but be original, therein lies the challenge!

Prizes

1st Place will win an Annual Subscription to the hottest digital 3D magazine 3D Creative Mag (it's only digital)!
2nd Place will win a Half Year Subscrption of the above
3rd Place will win a Single Issue

Specifications

Weapon Choice-
Must state your weapon choice from the list above, i.e.: Link Gun, Mine Layer, etc.

Maximum Triangles -

2000

Maximum Textures
1024x1024 Diffuse
1024x1024 Specular (optional)
1024x1024 Bump / Normal (optional)
1024x1024 Alpha (optional)
1024x1024 Glow (optional)

Submission Guidelines

Entry Deadline is the End of Friday the 13th of October (extended) GMT +-0 as time zone.

Work in Progress should be posted by yourself in a seperate thread named by using the prefix "Competition #2" and your Username as thread title, i.e. "Competition # 2 requiem2d"

Final Submissions should be posted by yourself in the thread titled "Competition #2 UT Weapons - Submissions"

Provide the following Images -
  • 1P Shot of Final Piece 800x600 (Does NOT have to be from within Unreal, most will render this from their 3D Application)
  • Wireframe 800x600
  • All texture sheets used (original size)

I've already got my concept in mind

you can call it the Subatomic Hyper Ultrsound Emitter (Shue) or as its affectionately known "The Monkey Screamer"

Mine follows the same idea as the shock rifle only with highly directed sound waves

you can charge a sound wave into a sphear and shoot it out you can then hit it again to break it open and cause a painfull screach into the minds of your enimie... and teammates!

How close do they have to fit the catagories? I mean, for the assault rifle can it be ANY type of made up assault rifle, and for the Flak Cannon does it have to have the exact same projectile/use?
