Competition #16 - king-taharka

I thought I can do a zeldish kind of boss...

so I took some time on Thursday and Friday and went for a wooden puppet scarecrow sort of a boss...

With mini bosses...

This is the concept..

But I discovered that I cannot go for the concept without exceeding the tri budget... so I changed the look of the boss a little.

Now I finished modeling and went for texturing...

As you can see I suck in texturing... just look at the texture sheet...

Any idea that can help in that?

thanks

wow! you came out of nowhere! Looks great! The textures are a bit blurry. It's really too bad they only gave us 512x512 to work with.

I'm thinking that the problem may be your rendering settings rendering your textures with a low quality.

What 3d modeller or renderer are you using?

Try doing a render then.
I am working with Maya and doing a total conversion modification for the game STALKER, which uses it's own material type for textures, which more often than not, will show up in super low resolution inside of the view port, however upon doing a render, the details show. Perhaps your problem with low res textures is the same.

So try and see how it renders, or have a look for some sortof max tutorial to help you.

i actually started to look for the tutorials and i somehow feel a bit unlucky...

you see.. i rendered the scene and the textures came kind of fine ... but the thing is that the rules say only screen grabs are allowed...

i tried to get it into UED3 ... but i discovered in the process that me and the engine have allot to know about each other...

sadly i am still trying.

now gooood luck in your project... i hope we can see how its going...

thank you Natace for your comment.

Nice work so far KING-TAHARKA, looking good.

Regarding the blurry texture issue in max viewport:

Go to -->Customize -->Preferences... -->Viewports -->Configure Driver

Next, you want to check the boxes for "Match Bitmap Size as Closely as Possible" and set the texture sizes to "1024" and "512" respectively. This should get you going in the right direction for screen grabs in the viewport.

If this is already setup then it must be the texel density.
