Comeptition #16 - AdamtehGreat
Whilst I'm still not 100% on what I'll finish with, I've put pen to paper/photoshop and come up with a base:
Scene outline: *Giant walrus is guarding an ice cave *Giant walrus is so awesome large that he's filled out a bit, and can't get out of the cave *Focus on front half of the body, and the head. Painted, exaggerated style Goal Outline: *Character should give sense of scale (He's HUUUUUGE) *Scene should feel more fun than scary *Scene should tell a story |

Hey man,
Big old fat walrus...nice! I think if your gonna make him into a boss, he should be more menacing when you start modeling. Right now he looks like " the wise old walrus". Give him sharper or chipped tusks, smaller, more centered eyes, and battle scars all over his skin. I think the skin texture would be fun to do! And yeah, the environment your proposing, has alot of po-tential! Another thing to think about is how he would fight you. Its a boss monster right? He of course cant be too mobile, and his ass looks stuck in the ice cave. The hands are small and have no reach, so maybe he spits walrus jizz everywhere! Or maybe the head flails around and the tusks are extra long. Hey GL.

Right. Cheers for the C&Cs guys. Here we go:
BloodRobot: Not a fan of making him too scarred/FPSesque. In fact, I'm deliberately steering away from adding massive amounts of scarring, blood and all that jazz because I'm personally a little bored with it all. I'm confident I can still create him to look cross however, as most bosses are. Regarding movement: Think Sonic Rush for the DS. I see him as moving his head a bit (so I'm structuring the geometry around his body to cater for this), and jostling about to make stalegnights fall. Any more decidation towards attacks and I'd be moving into designer territory, so I'm leaving it there I think. Spewing is a rockin idea though SO: Started modeling him today. Expecting ¬2k for him, and another 1k for the environment. |

Very original and your drawing is nice. I am curious as to how you plan on texturing it.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish this project by the given deadline. Instead, this will be used as a base for a larger scene, in a cool 1940's style train station, instead of that boring ice cave
Thanks for everyone's input! I'll make a thread when i'm much closer to where I'd like to be ![]() |
