Comeptition #16 - Magnel
Okay, so I really have no idea why I'm doing this but I figure what the hell, I've got this cute idea.
So I don't have my tablet with me, nor a mouse, just my p.o.s Dell laptop and its touch pad. So I did my concept in Blender, the 'Meanie Weenie', is my boss monster, and his lair is 'The Combo Meal From Hell' This is my idea: ![]() Now let me tell you, I did this with a touchpad in my sociology class this morning at 8 am, hopefully when I get home to a tablet and mouse real work can begin. I plan on giving him a much more boss like pose with a weapon and other top secrety stuff, but for now this is just the idea. Taly Ho for now. |

Wow. what can you say about this? I love it! Dude, the glasses you go with in the final piece are really whats gonna express the personality. Really think about those! I dig the Rambo/Sylvester Stallone lip curl in the last pic. Have fun with the "grill marks" man, and some burnt skin, and splitting that hot dogs do when you cook em. Man this is clutch!
Oh yeah, I know its a wip, but be sure to round out his limbs, maybe little hot dog fingers. GL!

Yea, I know a lot people take these competitions to heart, and they should, many competitors have outrageous skill, so I just wanted to bring some giggles into everyone else's (is that a word, else's?) awe inspiring pieces.
I fell in love with the idea, I was reading the info in my sociology class and busted out laughing when I thought of a rampaged hot dog from hell. yea the limps were just cubed extrusions, finished 'em out in this next post: Little update, messing around with a few weapon ideas, this is a chainsaw inspired by a former SMC. ![]() |

How come you can draw such a concept, but you struggle with making a solid texture? why not just use your art skills for the texturing as well?
Model wise there's allot of room for improvements... The arms and legs are just cylinders right now, you could give them a bit more shape imo. Like small triceps muscles, give his legs just a bit more volume, add feet/boots/shoes/whatever, etc... you know, stuff like that ![]() I really dig the concept, but i'm kinda missing the "I kick ass" feel in the 3d... ![]() |

Well I haven't started on textures per say, just place holders at the moment, but I will say texturing seems a bit more complicated on Blender, I really haven't worked out the nooks and crannies with UV Mapping in Blender so it's a learning experience I assume.
Modeling, I can see your point. I remodeled the entire weenie, (If I see that quoted anywhere it better be for the sake of this piece) which lowered the count. I've actually added in some extra props and the total poly count is only 972, so I do have an absolute ton of space to fill if I wanted; even though my original idea I wanted little feeble limbs, adding depth probably wouldn't be such a bad thing.
