Zombie Hitler? Hmmm. Ok. So how does he attack? Maybe you could separate the head from the body, and put it in a jar on a bookshelf. He could control his zombie body via telepathy.

He attacks his enemies with the PPK he killed himself with.

I'm curious to see the texture maps, this looks good, and I like the idea of him using his suicide gun as a weapon since apparently the concept of some zombies are that they retain memories from their previous life, usually doing the last thing that they did before they died, which in this case, was shooting a pistol

However, one thing that doesn't really make sense is that the typical zombie can't function without a brain, and hitler blew his brains out...so...hmmm

Now this is gonna go a little deep and I apologize if it may seem off track, but looking at this from the alternative perspective of a developer for handheld games, who is judging this competition and who wants to use one of the entries in the game. I would think that using hitler in the game would come up with a whole bunch of nasty problems, regardless of the fact that you got rid of the nazi flag, the zombie still resembles hitler, as does his back story.

I'm just saying that it might be an issue, but it might not...who knows, I thought it would be worth noting as game development also takes into account ethical issues and all that mumbo jumbo that can really bite a developer in the arse.
I mean just look at Rockstar games with the GTA games and how much of a crapstorm that stirred up with those game nazi's (so called responsible parents) out there who don't want games that aren't all about teletubbies and baby faced sun's.

I know that's pretty deep to take into consideration, but if anybody who read this thread never thought about that kindof problem before, they will think about it now.

The only reason why Devs are so careful with nazi-related material is because Germany will not sell a game which represents WW2 in a non-historical fashion. Its not an issue with the public; its an issue with sales figures. And sales figues doesn't come into this one single bit, because it's a portfolio piece.

I'm also interested in your texture maps, and your meshes, since this scene does NOT look like it's 3k.
Are you tiling everything you can?
Are you maximising space for things the plaer will see more? IE: Is this gun/newspaper/clipboard using 128x128? because if it is, that's rediculous dude.

Natace - At first I thought the same thing, it's a bit much for a competition, but again let us not forget here that game development (I consider at least) is an expressive media, as with fine art, poetry, literature and films, all of which resemble Nazi appeal, destruction, and in this case (as well as many others) humor.

But you're right in saying we should, and most of the time, do take into consideration ethical response, but informally this is just a private competition, as with no one is being forced to recognize any piece other than the judges.

But it does bring up the topic of what's moral and immoral for video games.

having mixed feeling about this as well. definitely good work. but things like that are still taboo here. just make sure you don't apply anywhere in germany with this in your portfolio

Oh, drop the morality-and-ethics crap. Maybe if he was modeling the interior of a gas chamber with a bunch of grotesque dead corpses and a nazi captain in some kind of gleeful pose there would be cause for eyebrow raising, but honestly guys, it's just zombie hitler. It's humorous, it's Wolfenstein. It doesn't even come close to endorsing nazi ideals, and even if it did it would hardly be reason to get angry because let's all remember that the player is supposed to kill the bosses.

I think it's safe for what Ben has to say has summed this entire conversation up, and even though I'm not GA Staff or admin, I think we can leave it at that, getting on track with Harry's piece for what it is.
